San Benito County and City of Hollister officials are working together on possibly conducting a needs assessment for a new technology/library center here, according to the city council agenda for Monday.
Hollister City Council members are set to consider a resolution at their 6:30 p.m. Monday meeting at Hollister City Hall authorizing staff officials to assist the county in developing and releasing requests for proposals for a needs assessment related to a “Technology Education, Library Center (TeL Center).
County and city officials for years have broached the potential for a new library to replace the aging facility on Fifth Street in downtown Hollister. A needs assessment would be a preliminary step toward possibly building a new facility.
The RFP idea came out of an intergovernmental committee meeting Nov. 5. The committee is set to act as a selection panel to interview and recommend a firm to the county board. At that time, the city expects to figure out its financial contribution to a project, according to the agenda minutes.
Intergovernmental committee members also expressed desire to involve school districts.
Look back for more.
