Hollister officials had to postpone Monday’s council meeting – focusing on the city’s loss of more than $96,000 from 2008 rally merchandise sales – because three of five members said they couldn’t attend.

For a council meeting to take place, there must be a quorum of at least three members.

The three Hollister City Council members who couldn’t attend were Brad Pike, Eugenia Sanchez and Monica Johnson, City Manager Clint Quilter said.

Quilter said Pike was called into work, Sanchez was out with a medical condition and Johnson had a plumbing problem at her house.

The meeting was set to feature discussion on merchandise sales figures from the 2008 event in July. The city has rescheduled the discussion for 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Quilter on Sept. 15 released figures showing that Hollister, in its first year using “official” T-shirt and merchandise sales to offset police costs, had lost more than $96,000.
