ClearSpot energy and Rosendin Electric hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 6 to celebrate the start of the first of 10 solar energy projects in Hollister.
The projects include installation of solar panels at the Hollister Wastewater Treatment Plant, six Hollister elementary schools, two Hollister middle schools and the offices of the Hollister School District.
“We applaud all the stakeholders – from the local government to the business community and unions – for their forward-thinking vision in embracing this significant energy initiative for Hollister’s water treatment plant and schools,” said Gary Banta, the managing director of ClearSpot, in a press release.
At the Wednesday morning ceremony, more than a dozen speakers stood up to talk about the positive impact of the project in minimizing energy costs for the schools and cities, including Hollister City Manager Clint Quilter and School District Superintendent Gary McIntire.
“Our solar energy initiative will create jobs for local residents, reduce energy costs in our county and put Hollister on a path toward a stronger, healthier and more prosperous future,” said Victor Gomez, Hollister mayor, in a press release. “These alternative energy programs are good for the City of Hollister, good for the rate payers, good for the schoolchildren and good for our local economy.”
