The Council of San Benito County Governments is looking for nine community members to be part of the first Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will advise the council on the needs and priorities in the area for pedestrian and bicycle safety and access. Members will also work with COG staff on the development of the Bikeway and Pedestrian Master Plan, which will be initiated in May.

The nine members will be appointed to three-year terms. There will be approximately four meetings throughout the year. Members will be expected to meet as needed and are not compensated for this job.

COG Transportation Planner Veronica Lezama said the agency has received around $90,000 in grants and local funds for the Bikeway and Pedestrian Master Plan.

Lezama said COG would like to get people with varying backgrounds and demographics in the county to serve on the committee.

For applications, go to www.sanbenitocog.org, e-mail Veronica Lezama at [email protected] or fax her at 636-4160. Any interested parties should contact Lezama by May 15.
