The Council of San Benito County Governments is seeking public input on its 2010 update of the San Benito County Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). The Regional Transportation Plan is a 20-year planning document that sets forth goals and policies for transportation planning, and identifies priority transportation projects in San Benito County.

The Council of Governments is undertaking two major efforts to gain public input. Through August 5, a public survey is available online at www.sanbenitocog.org/RTP2010. The copy, printed at right, can also be cut out and returned to the office.

The survey asks respondents to rank the need for transportation improvements in San Benito County, including improvements to highways, local streets and roads, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Data collected from the survey will be used to help shape the development of the project list included in the Regional Transportation Plan.

The Council of Governments will also host a public workshop on Tuesday, July 28, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the Regional Transportation Plan and provide input to COG representatives. The workshop will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building on San Benito Street in Hollister.

For more information, please contact the Council of Governments at 637-7665 or visit www.sanbenitocog.org/2010RTP.php. The survey can also be accessed from the Web site www.sanbenitocog.org. Responses are requested by Aug. 5.
