The local intergovernmental committee made up of three local governments will meet Monday to discuss the possibility of merging the Hollister Police Department and the sheriff’s office.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place at 3:30 p.m. June 21 at Hollister City Hall.
The meeting will be a discussion between representatives from the city council and the board of supervisors.
An expert, who has overseen the merging of the two law enforcement agencies in other counties before, is expected to give a presentation, Councilman Doug Emerson said. The expert will give examples of what can be done in the area.
Emerson would not release the person’s name and he said that the person has done no research so far on San Benito County. No decisions will be made at the meeting – it is only for informational purposes, Supervisor Margie Barrios said.
Members will take the information to their respected boards, Barrios said. Committee members include Barrios, Supervisor Pat Loe, Emerson and Councilwoman Pauline Valdivia.
