San Benito High School Life Skills students planned to provide baked goods as a fundraiser for the family. Staff members and faculty at the school were collecting food donations for the family, according to Principal Krystal Lomanto. The Associated Student Body members will discuss ways they can help the family at their weekly meeting on Thursday morning. Heather Carroll’s father-in-law Michael Carroll teaches at the high school.
On Monday morning, some neighborhood children who live near the Carroll home had drawn a tribute on their driveway in chalk that said “We Love You Heather.”
Mother-in-law Susan Carroll said Heather Carroll enjoyed spending time with the neighborhood children, including her own son. She said the young woman was known for giving out popsicles to the children and drawing on the sidewalk with them.
“She was just an angel,” Carroll said. “Everyone who talked to her would use that word.”
