Supervisors today approved the hiring of a new county counsel, Matthew Granger, who previously worked as city attorney for the City of Lompoc.

The San Benito County Board of Supervisors approved the hiring of Granger to succeed Dennis LeClere, who retired last year.

The county hired an executive search firm to conduct the recruitment and received more than 40 applicants, according to a press release from the county administrative office.

That press release notes that Granger has more than 20 years of experience practicing law. Granger is expected to start employment with the county July 15.
