San Benito County and Pick-n-Pull, a Rancho Cordova-based auto and truck dismantling company, have partnered up this week to offer free vehicle towing for cars and trucks, through Saturday.
If you have a car that isn’t working, won’t pass the smog test or you just want to get rid of it, you can call Pick-n-Pull to schedule an appointment and have it picked up from your home. If the vehicle still can be driven, the county also will be accepting it this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3220 Southside Road in Hollister. If you bring your car in on Saturday, you will receive at $50 gift certificate for Pick-n-Pull, good at any of its locations.
San Benito County Director of Building and Planning Art Henriques said having the combination of free tows during the week and having the drop-off on Saturday “worked pretty well last year.”
“You can get rid of vehicles that aren’t working or you don’t want, and Pick-n-Pull turns it into a recycling program.”
Cars and trucks under 18 feet long do not need to be in working condition to be picked up and no ownership documents are required for pick up, although having them would expedite the process as vehicles will be verified with authorities. No boats, motor homes or trailers will be picked up.
For more information or to schedule a tow, call Pick-n-Pull at (831) 633-2955 or visit the Web site at www.picknpull.com.
