Daniel Valdez passed from this life on October 16, 2006. He was the adored son of Victor and Anna Valdez, beloved brother of Victor Valdez, Jr. (JoAnn), Joyce Ybarra (Raymond), Eugene Valdez (Lisa), and Anthony Valdez (Gayle). He was the caring uncle of Jesse, Briana, and Eli Sanchez; Amy and Jessica Sharp; Melanie and Grace Valdez; Jeremy Dirks, Josh Zimmerman, and Anthony Valdez. He was friend and confidante to an untold number of Gilroyans from the downtown area he frequented, to Gavilan College, where he was a student, and also on the editorial staff of the Gavilan Press.
Born and raised in Gilroy, he attended St. Mary School and he was an artist and a poet, who influenced many with his insight and grace.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm Thursday, followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be said 9:00 am Friday, all at St. Mary Catholic Church.
