They followed a magnitude-3.4 temblor that occurred Tuesday night.

HOLLISTER

Another moderate earthquake slightly shook the area Wednesday, with the magnitude-3.5 temblor centered around the same location as nine other small quakes in the past nine days.

The earthquake at 12:49 p.m. had an epicenter about six miles south of Tres Pinos near Paicines along the San Andreas Fault, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There have been several similar earthquakes since Jan. 13 above magnitude-3.0, which is large enough to be felt but has not been severe to the point of causing any reported damage.

A seismologist with the USGS in Menlo Park this week told the Free Lance the recent activity was “pretty typical behavior” for the fault, which has experienced about 330 earthquakes over magnitude-3.0 since 1970.
