Donald Elbert Lantz was born in Campbell, California on June 4, 1923 and passed away peacefully on February 9, 2008. Donald was a UC Davis Alumnus, an agricultural pioneer, and an avid hunter, fisherman and world traveler. He was a docent at the UCSC Long Marine Laboratory for 24 years and a Red Cross Disaster Relief volunteer for 48 years. Donald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley F. Lantz; his two children, Pam Chiala (Chris Schroeder) and Tim Lantz; three grandchildren, Vito Chiala (Lucy), Gina Chiala and Alisha Mazzucco (Rico); and great-granddaughter Siena Chiala. The family extends its wholehearted thanks to the caring staff at Our Lady of Fatima Villa in Saratoga, California. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. A private memorial will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 1:00 at the home of Tim Lantz.
