Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band will play a concert this month where proceeds benefit the San Benito County Arts Council.
The concert will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge located at 351 Astro Drive in Hollister.
The award-winning band plays a mix of Chicano, rhythm and blues and rock n’ roll music, according to a press release from the council. The group has a strong local and regional following.
Dr. Loco’s Rockin Jalapeño Band was founded by San Francisco-based saxophonist Jose B. Cuellar, a professor emeritus of Latino studies for San Francisco State University. The 2015 lineup consists of San Jose-based guitarist Tomas Montoya, Modesto-based bass player Manuel Polanco, Oakland-based drummer Joe Brigandi, and San Francisco-based accordion and trumpet player Miguel Govea.
