United Way Extravaganza

The United Way of San Benito County presents its 4th Annual Winter Wonderland Extravaganza on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the San Juan Oaks County Club. The event will raise funds to support many local non-profits serving the community. The extravaganza features a delicious gourmet dinner, dancing to DJ Robin Renee and the thrill of both a silent and live auction. Auction items include beautifully decorated Christmas trees, exclusive tickets to sporting events, family trips and much more. GIft festival:

The 16th American Indian Gift Festival will be Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1-2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Community Center on Second and San Jose streets in San Juan Bautista. There will be fine arts, crafts vendors and native foods and music. Please donate a new unwrapped toy, game, blanket, clothing or book to be sent to the White Buffalo Calf Women’s Shelter in South Dakota. Admission is a donation and parking is free. Knights of Columbus:

School Book Contest:

Casa de Fruta is giving away six sets of Scholastic books. Each set contains 295 books. Enter your school to win at Casa de Fruta and recieve a Free Fun Pass just for entering. Veterans Day Parade:

The Veterans Coalition of San Benito County will present the second annual Hollister Veterans Day Parade “Honoring Veterans of San Benito County” on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 10-11 a.m. in downtown. Dance Live:

The YMCA of San Benito County and the San Benito County Prevention Coalition are sponsoring Dance Live, a summer dance program for middle and high school students. The program, which will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the YMCA at 339 Fifth St. in Hollister. Youths will learn hip-hop, jazz, salsa and other dance styles. They wil also be taught choreogrophy, basic dance moves and theory. At the end of the program, youths will perform their routines for family and friends. Hollister Rec Classes:

The Hollister Recreation Division is offering monthly classes and programs in the following areas: pakua kickboxing, pakua slow movement, women’s self defense, including intermediate karate, dance, creative cartooning, aerobics, Latin ballroom dance, adult golf and time bowling. San Juan Library Story Time:

Story-teller Adele Pimentel will present story time for pre-schoolers at the San Juan Bautista Library on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and every other Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the library, 801 Second St. Pimentel uses puppetry and songs in her stories. Bilingual Story Time:

Rummage Sale:

Boy Scout Troop 436 will be holding a rummage sale Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Bertha Briggs Youth Center, 1220 Memorial Dr. in Hollister from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Proceeds from the sale will go toward the troop’s annual activities.

Recipe for Murder: A Musical Mystery Dinner Production is being presented by the San Juan Bautista Rotary and sponsored by the San Juan Oaks Golf Club, TOPS and A Rock Shop Friday, Nov. 14.
