‘San Benito Living’

The Hollister Art League is having an art show featuring “San Benito Living” at Mars Hill through March 15. On display are colorful paintings by local artists, in oils, watercolors, linocuts and photography. The public is invited to meet the artists at a reception Feb. 19, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 638-0277 or 637-6062.

San Benito Stage Company presents ‘The Foreigner’

San Benito Stage Company presents ‘The Foreigner,” a play by Larry Shue. The dinner theater show is Feb. 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25 and 26, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7 p.m., and Sunday shows at 2 p.m., at the Vault, 452 Fifth St. Tickets are $30 and include dinner and show, and are available by advance purchase only. San Benito High School Alumni Social

A San Benito High School Haybalers alumni social for all graduating classes will be held Feb. 11, at the Vault Restaurant, from 6 p.m. to midnight. The event is open to any alumni 21 and older. Ticket price is the alum’s graduation year, such as $19.97 for a 1997 graduate. The event includes dining, drinking, dancing and lots of memories. Tickets are available at the Student Payment Center, 1220 Monterey St. Call 637-5831 for more information.

Open mic night

An open mic night will be hosted at the Blak Sage Gallery, 727 San Benito St., in Hollister, Feb. 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to perform poetry, music or song, any age, any style and any language. Residents are invited to bring something to share or just to come and listen. The event is free. For more information, call 636-9100 or 634-0263.

Emergency drill at SBHS

San Benito High School will be conducting an emergency drill Feb. 14. As a result local residents and businesses may hear a loud siren sometime during school hours. For more information, call Assistant Principal Antonio Vela at 637-5831, ext. 137.

Lunch with Leaders

The chamber of commerce’s Lunch with Leaders event will be held on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at San Juan Oaks Golf Club. The guest speaker will be San Benito County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Margie Barrios. The cost is $15 with reservation or $18 at the door.

Learn about the Constitution

The San Benito County Tea Party is holding a series of DVD lectures entitled, “A Citizens Guide to American’s Founding Documents.” The next meeting is Feb. 16, at 8 p.m., at The Vault.

Caregiver’s Tool Kit

The Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center and Jovenes de Antano is sponsoring a series of workshops, Caregiver’s Tool Kit, for four Thursdays, Deb. 24, March 3, 10 and 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Jovenes de Antano, 300 West St., in Hollister. The class is free, but pre-registration is required. Respite funds may be available to attend the class.

The instructor Christina Andrade has a background in nursing and more than 20 years of experience in geriatric care. She has developed and taught classes on basic caregiver skills, behavior management, stress management and disease progression.
