HOLLISTER

The San Benito County Arts Council has partnered with the Hollister Downtown Association and the Black Sage Gallery for a two-week exhibit starting April 4 with an Artists’ Reception from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The work of many local artists will be on display, including those participating in San Benito County’s Open Studios event April 25 and April 26, according to a press statement from the arts council.

Gallery owner Jim Wood is providing space at the new business located at 727 San Benito St.

The open studios portion of the exhibit will include jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography, pottery and stained glass.

Also, during the Artists’ Reception, the HDA will hold its Charming Chairs event, while 30 chairs will be decorated and shown. They will be part of a silent auction from April 4 to April 18, with funds donated to the Downtown Endowment Fund. Once the reception is over, the chairs will be moved to businesses along San Benito and Fifth streets, where residents can bid on them.

In addition to the chairs, quilts designed by local quilters will be on display and some will be for sale.

Live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres round out the activities for the evening.
