Congressman Sam Farr, shown in this file photo, has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for the presidency.

U.S. Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for the presidency.

Farr, who represents San Benito County, announced this week that he would be supporting Obama while noting he believes Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton would be a “great team” if the Democratic nominee ultimately picks the New York senator as his running mate.

“Barack is an exciting new leader in American politics,” Farr said in a statement. “He will work to end the war in Iraq, he will tackle domestic issues that have been neglected for years and he will help repair our battered reputation abroad.”

Obama this week locked up the needed number of delegates for the Democratic nomination to face Republican Sen. John McCain in the November election, while Clinton suspended her campaign.
