Fans of wrestling can see all ages compete Saturday at the John Kiesewetter Faultline Rumble wrestling tournament Saturday at Hollister High.

Ages from 5 to 50 will be on the mat with bouts staged at both Mattson Gym and O’Donnell Gym. A $1 or $2 donation is welcome at the door. Matches begin at 9:30 a.m.

“It’s great to see those little kids go at it,” said Razorback Wrestling President David Salcedo, who will be running the event.

Salcedo’s nephew, Kenny Salcedo, is a 65-pound 10-year old and he’ll be participating in the tournament, which will feature Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestling. Other youngsters who are members of Razorback Wrestling are Mike Soto, age 9, Justin Rainey, and Anthony and Jr. Davila.

David Salcedo said one of his future wreslting stars is David San Miguel, age five.

“He’s a rock,” said Salcedo. “He really goes after it.”

Baler wrestlers on the docket include Chris Mora and Jacob and Jamie Driskill, to name a few. Some of Gilroy High’s better wrestlers are expected to be in attendance as 300 wrestlers should be on hand, so to speak.

Anyone with a USA Wrestling card is eligible to wrestle. Medals and scrolls will be awarded to top wrestlers. Weight classes will be rotated to give spectators a viewing variety.

The tournament is named for Kiesewetter, who has coached wrestling for over three decades. Kiesewetter founded Razorback Wrestling in 1980.

Kiesewetter recently retired from coaching after being in charge of the junior varsity program at Hollister High for the past 10 years.
