The highest degree that can be bestowed upon a FFA member is receiving the California State FFA degree. On January 21, 19 members from Hollister FFA received that honor, according to an announcement from the local Future Farmers of America chapter.
According to the announcement:
This degree is only awarded to the State Association’s top members, and is the second highest degree a student can earn while in FFA. These members qualified for earning their State Degree by spending a minimum of 500 hours on their Supervised Agricultural Experience Project(s), earning a minimum of $1,000.00 profit on their project(s) and participating in school, FFA, and community service events as well as FFA contests. According to the California Agriculture Education Website approximately 1,800 State FFA Degrees are handed out each year. That number represents approximately 3% of the California FFA association membership, making it the state’s highest honor.

Taylor Perry, Madison Hawkes, Kyle Cabrera, Samantha Simmons, Kaylee Delgado, Isabella Pulido, Britni Patterson, Rosa Gutierrez, Daniel Diaz Hopkins, Holly Lompa, Brooke Shaffer, Samantha Warren, Mark Scalmanini, Corissa King, Shannon Maguire, Josh Tonascia, Maisie Thomas, Madison Andrade, John Bianchi. These students will be attending an award ceremony in their honor at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in March.
