Demolition of Hollister Fire Station No. 1 at 110 Sally St.
began Wednesday morning.
Fire officials said that the demolition is expected to be
complete by Friday, with the debris cleared by next week. The old
station is being torn down to make way for a new building on the
same site, with the $5 million revamp funded by a bond through the
Hollister Redevelopment Agency.
Fire crews are covering the downtown area from a temporary
station site at the corner of Fourth and Monterey streets. The
demolition and reconstruction phase is expected to take 18 months
to complete.
