Fundraising efforts slowed as expected during the latest filing period for the two contested, countywide offices on the November ballot.
Candidates running for the open sheriff’s seat and the District 4 supervisor’s role had a deadline last week to submit campaign finance statements for a period between March and June 30.
In the race for sheriff, Pat Turturici continued leading in the fundraising category. The county undersheriff raised $5,075 during the filing period, according to the latest statements. It brought his total for the year, including non-monetary contributions, to $65,826. He had $2,941 in remaining cash, according to his filing.
Opponent Darren Thompson, a lieutenant with the Watsonville Police Department, raised $846 for the period. His total for the year was $15,804 and he had $305 in remaining cash, according to the records.
Those two candidates advanced in the March primary over two other residents, Robert Scattini and Ray Wood.
Over in the District 4 supervisor’s race, Phil Fortino continued to lead the fundraising efforts in the bid to replace Supervisor Reb Monaco after Fortino and Jerry Muenzer knocked him out of the primary.
