College vamps up online career training offerings
The staff at Gatlin Education Services has paired with Gavilan College to offer online career training courses in a variety of fields. The new training courses include programs in healthcare, business, construction and technology, Internet design and technology, and video game design and development.
The classes are not for credit, but are intended to help with career development. A list of available programs can be viewed at www.gatlineducation.com/gavilan. The classes vary in the number of hours required to complete a course and the fees needed to enroll. For instance, the veterinary assistant program requires 240 hours of online work and costs $1,595. The cost of textbooks and other materials are often included in programs. Gatlin does offer some financial assistance to students, in the form of a loan program.
Gatlin, a Fort Worth based company, has partnered with more than 600 colleges or universities since it was founded in 1989.
“Between juggling a job, a home, a family and a social life, there isn’t always a lot of time left to attend an on-campus class,” said Stephen Gatlin, founder of the company. “Online training offers the convenience of working from your personal computer and at your own pace. It’s a viable tool right now as evidenced by the growing number of people utilizing it, and is the way of the future.”
