A dozen Gavilan College students attended the largest international game developer conference, according to an announcement from the school. They attended the the Game Developers Conference 2016, which had more than 10,000 people in attendance. They participated with the help of grant funds.

With their participation funded through generous grants from Title V and the ICT & Digital Media Sector, students from both Gavilan and Hartnell colleges spent a day in workshops geared toward preparing them for success in the field of game development. Professional programmers, artists, designers, sound engineers and writers shared their experience and gave advice to students in how to break into the game industry.
