Gavilan College holds classes at the Briggs Building.

Gavilan College will host a workshop this month to teach students how they can turn organic materials into compost at the Briggs Building in Hollister.
Jan Janes, a writer, teacher and master gardener, will present the workshop in partnership with the Water Resources Association of San Benito County.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 16 in Room 1 of the Briggs Building, located at 365 Fourth St. It will focus on creating compost to replace pricey fertilizers, retain more water, reduce pest problems and decrease the presence of organic materials in landfills, according to a press release from the college.
The workshop costs $20. For more information or to register for the class, go to GavilanCE.com, or call (408) 852-2801
