George A. Petersen died Jan. 26 in Bend, Ore.

He graduated from San Benito High School in 1954 and served in the US Navy.
He moved to Salinas in 1960 where he was a produce broker in California and Arizona and also was a real estate broker. He moved to Oregon in 1983.
He is survived by his daughters, Megan Challis of Redmond, Wash., and Melissa Cordel of Bessemer, Ala.; his son, Benjamin Petersen of Talent, Ore.; his brothers, Henry Petersen of Hollister and Peter Petersen of Shelton, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George M. and Katherine Petersen.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 11am at San Juan District Cemetery in San Juan Bautista.
Rev. John Amelio of Glad Tidings Church will officiate. A reception will follow the services at the San Juan Bautista Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.
