Former Hollister and Monterey resident Gertrude I. Bisnett died
Sunday, Sept. 12 at her home in Grants Pass, Ore. She was 95 years
old.
Former Hollister and Monterey resident Gertrude I. Bisnett died Sunday, Sept. 12 at her home in Grants Pass, Ore. She was 95 years old.
She was born Gertrude Isabella Pacheco in Hollister on Jan. 17, 1909. She attended San Benito High School and studied business at Hollister Junior College. She was an office manager at Metropolitan Life Insurance in San Jose for 10 years. During World War II, she served in the US Navy. On Nov. 30, 1946, she married Ralph Bisnett, who died in 1994, in Hollister. Together they operated Bisnett Trucking from 1947 until 1957. She moved to Grants Pass in Nov. 1996 from Salinas.
Gertrude was a member of the Sea Otter Waves in Monterey, the Monterey History and Arts Association and was president of the Republican Women’s Club and the African Violet Society. She was ranked a master player of duplicate bridge.
Survivors include her step-daughter, Donna Corrigan of Grants Pass; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several cousins.
