Ladd Lane Elementary School Kindergarten student Bo Sowards said his favorite part of the Walk-A-Thon held Friday was getting hot and squirted with water.

Kindergarten student John Corea said his favorite part was running. Kindergarten student Julia Woeste said walking with friends was hers.

Parent Club coordinators Kristy Eggers and Jodi Chatham put together the event for the students at the school. This is the second year they have done this, Eggers said.

Eggers said students run between 20 to 30 minutes depending on their grade level. Each student had a card that had to be marked each time they went around the track to keep track of how many laps each student did.

Near the finish line, water was being sprayed in the air to keep the kids cooled down. After the students finished, they received snacks, water and a prize.

Eggers said the money from the fundraiser will go toward facility needs and areas hurt by school budget cuts.
