SAN JOSE
Former two-time world champion and Gilroy native Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero is scheduled to appear at the San Jose Sharks game Thursday, when the Sharks host the Los Angeles Kings at HP Pavilion.
During the telecast on Comcast, Guerrero (21-1-1, 16 KOs) will talk about his upcoming fight against Indonesia’s Daud Yordan (15-0, 10 KOs), scheduled for March 7 at the same site.
The fight will be broadcast on HBO’s Boxing After Dark series, marking the first-ever broadcast by the cable network at The Tank.
“It’s an honor to be a special guest at the Sharks game and, in my opinion, they’re the best team in the NHL,” Guerrero said. “As a prize fighter, you always dream about making appearances like this. I know the house will be packed so I’ll be ready to deliver my message.”
Guerrero will be battling Yordan for the NABO Jr. Lightweight championship. Also on the card will be hard-hitting James Kirkland (24-0, 21 KOs) against ESPN’s 2005 “Prospect of the Year” Joel Julio (34-2, 31 KOs). ESPN’s 2008 “Prospect of the Year”, Victor Ortiz (23-1-1, 18 KOs), will be facing Mike Arnaoutis (21-2-2, 10 KOs).
Tickets for the fight, priced at $200, $100, $60 and $25, are on sale now at the HP Pavilion Ticket Office, Ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets by calling (408) 998-8497.
