Gilroy native Ada Wong has struggled with her weight her entire life. Now a contestant on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, Wong, 27, has committed to shedding the pounds that have weighed her down for years.
Growing up as a shy child in Gilroy, Wong was ridiculed about her weight and received no encouragement or support from the people around her and turned to food for comfort, according to her bio on the show’s website.
Wong excelled in school and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on international business from the University of San Francisco. She is currently a project coordinator for Google, according to her Facebook profile.
Despite her academic and professional success, Wong continues to struggle with her weight. Her starting weight on The Biggest Loser was 258 pounds. She hopes losing the extra weight will boost her confidence and allow her to finally be happy, according to her bio.
The Biggest Loser airs at 8 p.m. Tuesdays on NBC.
