Golfers need to remember what body parts move the most when swinging. A clubhead travels 16 feet. Hands move five feet. And our body moves about six inches before the impact with the golf ball. With this in mind, concentrate on moving the clubhead more and the body less.

Our body is used to support our golf swing – the club should not be trying to catch up with the body. This is why the pros look like they are swinging so easy and hitting the ball so far.

Tour pros have effortless power and the average amateurs have powerless efforts. Swing by Ridgemark Golf and Country Club for help increasing your clubhead speed. We can help tone down some of your moves for more driving distance.

Mental tip: Learning from match play

This month is the Men’s Club Match Play Championship tournament. In match play, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose the hole by one or five strokes, each hole is only worth one point. Successful players will not allow a bad shot or a bad hole to discourage them nor will they give up when they are down.

Successful match play golfers play one shot at a time and one hole at a time. You never know when you are going to get hot or your opponent is going to go cold and the match can immediately swing in your favor.

Keep that attitude during all rounds of golf and see how many bad shots, or holes, you bounce back from.

Hole-in-One for 11-year-old golfer

At the ripe age of 11, Jacob Fajnor of Aromas scored his first hole-in-one. Jacob used his driver from the gold tees of Ridgemark Golf and Country Club’s Diablo Course’s 170-yard 15th hole. Hopefully, this is the first of many hole-in-ones for Fajnor.

Another ace

Lamar Huntzinger aced the 128-yard hole eight at Ridgemark’s Golf and Country Club’s Diablo Course.
