A hang glider suffered a broken femur in an accident Sunday when he hit the ground hard in a Tres Pinos field, a Calfire captain said.

Calfire responded to the accident in a field near Bolado Park at 3:30 p.m. Sunday when one of its engines, while returning from a vehicle fire at Santa Ana Valley and Quien Sabe roads, was flagged down and informed of the hang gliding accident.

“He burrowed into the ground there and broke his leg,” said Capt. Jim Dellamonica with Calfire in San Benito County.

Fire crews treated the victim – Dellamonica did not have any available information on the man – who was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
