Denise Lujan pitched into the third inning, then was relieved by Sam Filice, who went the rest of the way.
Amanda Boyd stole three bases and scored twice for the Heat. Ari Romero pinch-ran for Filice in the fifth inning after Filice had singled. Romero stole her way around the bases and scored on a throwing error. In the sixth, Kris Haggard cranked her second double of the tournament, then was knocked in by Jamie Huston, who singled up the middle. “Their pitcher threw hard,” said Heat 14 coach Steve Grimsley. “We had to manufacture most of our runs.”
