Helen Frances Flanagan died Monday, August 2, 2004 at the Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility in Hollister. She was 95 years old.
Helen had resided in San Benito County since March 2003, originally at her daughter’s home in San Juan Bautista. She lived at the Sunset Gardens Senior Complex in Gilroy from 1982 to 2003.
Born in 1908 in Herkimer, N.Y., Helen lived most of her life on the East Coast and in Aruba, NWI before moving to Santa Rosa in 1973. She worked as a registered nurse for many years.
She was preceded in death by Daniel, her husband, who died in 1985, and her daughter Patricia, who died of lung cancer in 2001.
Helen is survived by her daughter Jean M. Zlotkin and husband Steve; granddaughter Christina Latta of Boise, Idaho; grandsons Benjamin and Michael Zlotkin of Santa Cruz and Aptos.
No public service is planned. The family will gather at the Zlotkin home for a private memorial to celebrate Helen’s long life.
As per Helen’s wishes, arrangements for private cremation and placement in the family plot in Boise, Idaho have been made through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorial donations can be made to a favorite charity, the Mabie Center or the
Visiting Nurses Association Hospice of the Central Coast care of the funeral home chapel at 870 San Benito Street, Hollister CA 95023. The family wishes to thank staff members of both organizations for their wonderful care of Helen during the last two years of her life.
