Prom with friends can be just as special
Dear Lindsay,
I am a senior girl and I really want to go to the prom, but no
one has asked me. I don’t really want to go with just anyone
because I don’t want it to be an awkward night. What should I
do?
-Prom Problems
Dear Prom Problems,
Prom is something really special. If no one has asked you, then
you should ask someone. Who says the guy has to ask the girl? If
not, go with a bunch of friends. I went to prom last year with all
of my friends and had a blast. Friends know you and don’t make you
feel awkward. Sometimes going with a guy can be nerve-wracking.
Don’t fret over it. Just have fun with someone you know best.

Dear Lindsay,

My friends and I have gotten acceptance letters for college. I am staying near home and going to San Jose State, but one of my best friends is going out of state for school. I am so worried we won’t stay good friends after she moves. What can I do?

-Scared Spartan

Dear Scared Spartan,

Congrats on your acceptance! I know how you are feeling. I am as well going to San Jose State, but one of my best friends is going to Sonoma. In your case, they will be farther. Either way, long distance is hard. Just make sure you have phone numbers and addresses. Whenever they come down for break, try to make plans to see each other. Talk to each other as much as you can. Sure you’ll make new friends, but great friends will always be there for you.

Dear Lindsay,

My friend is always borrowing a little bit of money here or there from me and other friends. Like if we stop at Taco Bell after school, he always needs to borrow a dollar or two. Once in a while would be alright, but he does this all the time. How can we tell him no without hurting his feelings?

-Tired of Moocher

Dear Tired of Moocher,

Just tell him straight up that you don’t have a lot of money. If he agrees to go somewhere, then he should make sure that he has money. Say yes every once in a while, but if he keeps asking, then no one will have money. Start planning to do other things that don’t require a lot of money if that helps as well.

Dear Lindsay,

What should I wear to graduation? We have to wear those gowns anyway so does it even matter what we wear underneath?

-Curious Grad

Dear Curious Grad,

The rules say to wear something really nice. Even though you’re wearing the robe, they are very short and somewhat see-through. You should try to look your best and wear something nice for pictures and whatever it is you plan on doing afterwards.
