Moving on from a long-time crush

Dear Lindsay,

I have had a crush on this guy for almost a year and I think he is dating someone else now. It is really hard to see them together. What can I do to keep from feeling so sad?

-Crushed Crusher

Dear Crushed Crusher,

I know exactly how you feel. That’s what the majority of my songs I write are about. In my case, I write songs or letters that will never be read by someone other than myself as a way of getting my emotions out. I’m sure what has happened to you was not done on purpose; he probably didn’t know you liked him. You have to move on. Yes, it will hurt, but there are plenty of fish in life’s huge sea. You’ll find someone ten times better. So for now, try not to think about it so much. Keep your head up.

Dear Lindsay,

My friend invited me to her boyfriend’s birthday party. I’ve hung out with them a few times, but I don’t really know him. Should I bring him a gift or not?

-Confused Gifter

Dear Confused Gifter,

In this case, a gift isn’t necessary. A card can let people know you were there and that you cared. If you two were really close, then you would get him something but in this case, just smile and wish him a very happy birthday. He’ll appreciate the fact that you came.

Dear Lindsay,

Is there anything for teenagers to do during the Hollister Motorcycle Rally this weekend?

-Rally Pumped Teen

Dear Rally Pumped Teen,

Of course there is something to do! I love walking downtown with my friends and checking out what there is to buy or see. There’s always live entertainment and food, as well as awesome bikes to look at. Make sure to be careful, though and always go with someone. Never be alone. It isn’t uncommon to get lost.

Dear Lindsay,

I am thinking about starting a Relay for Life team since the event is coming up in August. How can I get my friends and family involved in the fundraiser for cancer?

-Joining the Fight

Dear Joining the Fight,

I’m so proud you have decided to participate in the fight against cancer. To get friends and family interested in becoming part of your team, do some research on cancer or find people who have been affected by it one way or another. Being with a whole bunch of friends and camping out is always fun. Knowing you are helping those in need makes the relay so much sweeter.
