Dr. D performs his stunts for the crowd during Saturday's airshow.

The seventh annual Hollister Airshow is set for Saturday and Sunday at the Hollister Municipal Airport from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
It will feature aerobatics, an F-18 aircraft, antique airplanes, warbirds, a motorcycle stunt show, classic cars and the Alabama Boys taking off and landing on the world’s shortest runway, the back of a moving truck.  Other flying acts include Vickey Benzing, Jason Pullen, Kevin Walker and Dr. D. The city-run airshow also will feature a car show this year with many local entrants.
The Father’s Day weekend event is put on by a squadron of volunteers, along with airport staff members like Mike Chambless, the director.
Ruth Erickson, president of the Hollister Airmen’s Association, is among the volunteers ready to go this weekend. She mentioned how there’s a lot of preparation that goes into the event that many residents might not know about, such as Federal Aviation Administration approvals and closures to nearby businesses.
She was particularly excited this year about the Alabama Boys performances.
“They land on the shortest runway in the world,” Erickson said. “They land on the top of their pick-up truck.”
Another bonus new feature is a car show at this year’s event, too.
Among the aircraft on display, she mentioned how the F-18 military plane would be back along with many others for the public to see.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-12 and free for kids up to age 5. Parking passes are $5. Family packages are available with savings, too.
