It wouldn’t really be Christmas around Hollister without the Holte dinner.
For more than two decades, the dinner has provided a holiday spirit boost for those in need.
The Holte Memorial Christmas Dinner was in jeopardy because the dinner’s board did not have enough directors, said Larry Brown, a board member.
But a little reorganization and feedback from the community had members deciding the Christmas dinner would continue as of Thanksgiving.
“We’re not going to stop,” Brown said.
On Wednesday, the board will convene and hammer out details for this year’s dinner, Brown said.
Information should be available soon about how residents can volunteer or help with donations.
Marley Holte began the annual dinners in 1985. He passed away in September 2006, and the dinners have since been held in his honor as the Holte Memorial Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Some years have previously drawn about 500 diners.
