The Baler band and others taking part in today’s homecoming parade won’t be forced to take an awkward march around the giant hole in the middle of San Benito Street because the route has been changed.
Parade organizers have adjusted the route for the 2 p.m. parade due to Wednesday’s main break at San Benito and Hawkins streets that has left a large portion of the road blocked off as crews continue repairs.
As always, the parade will start on Monterey Street at Baler Alley. But the route will cut over to San Benito Street later than usual, this year at Seventh Street. From there, the procession is set to move along to Fifth Street before heading back to Monterey Street toward Baler Alley again.
Tonight’s homecoming game against North Salinas is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
