– The Hollister Downtown Association is coordinating a Halloween
Contest which is open to downtown businesses and their employees.
All judging will occur on Friday, Oct. 31, between the hours of
9:30 a.m. and noon. Judges will come by participating
businesses.
Prizes will be awarded in both individual and business
categories. Individuals will be awarded for the scariest costume,
most original costume, and most gorgeous costume. Businesses will
be awarded for the best group theme costumes and best office
decorations.
Participants may call the HDA office (636-8406) by Oct. 28 to
have the judges stop by on Halloween morning for judging. Prizes
will be announced and distributed the same day as judging.

Employment prospects at fair
HOLLISTER – Employers looking for local talent will be meeting prospective employees at the One-Stop Job Fair Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the One-Stop Career Center at 111 San Felipe Road, suite 107.
The fair will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Bonsai show Saturday
SALINAS – The Salinas Bonsai Club will hold its annual show at the Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church in Salinas this Saturday, Oct. 4.
Bonsai teacher Katsumi Kinoshita will give a demonstration on how to create a nice bonsai, and his work will be offered in a post-demonstration raffle, along with assorted plants for creating bonsai.
The exhibition is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and admission is free. Kinoshita’s demonstration starts at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and visitors are welcome to bring in tired or overgrown bonsai for help.
The Presbyterian Church is located at 536 Lincoln Ave.
