Endeavor dinner fund-raiser
HOLLISTER – The Hollister School District Endeavor program is raising money for scholarships for after school activities for low-income students with a benefit dinner.
The dinner is Tues., Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Cedar House, 7511 Pacheco Pass Hwy. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at Fortino’s, Kelly’s Gift Place and the Cedar House. The full price of tickets will go to scholarships.

Scout cookies are coming
HOLLISTER – Local Girl Scouts are about to hit the streets for the organization’s annual cookie sale.
The focus of the sale this year is to help teach young girls financial literacy and offer a taste of home to U.S. military troops overseas. Proceeds from cookie sales benefit the girls’ troops and the regional council. Girl Scouts offers educational programs, day camp and travel opportunities for girls from 5-17.
Local Girl Scouts will begin sales on Feb. 29. In addition to door-to-door sales, scouts will be outside several local businesses offering selections of the familiar cookies.
New trail in San Martin
SAN MARTIN – Hikers can join a park ranger on Saturday, Feb. 8, to discover the new Calaveras Trail in the Bear Ranch section of Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch County Park east of Gilroy.
Walkers will leave the Lakeview Campground parking area off Coyote Lake Road. The 7.5-mile ramble is described as moderately strenuous.
The walk is free, but a $6 per vehicle park entrance fee will be levied. Participants should bring layered clothing, hiking boots, a snack and drinking water.

Rummage fund-raiser
HOLLISTER – San Benito High School students with international travel plans for spring break will be hosting a rummage sale in front of the high school tennis courts Sat. Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The sale will be cancelled if it rains.

HOLLISTER – The San Benito County Democratic party will host their monthly meeting Thurs. Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. at the YMCA in downtown Hollister, 339 Fifth St.
