at the age of 36.
Jeffrey John Martinez passed away suddenly Dec. 7 in Tehachapi at the age of 36. Jeffrey was a native and life long resident of Hollister, having graduated from San Benito High School. About two years ago, he and his family moved to Tehachapi. Jeffrey had been a volunteer fireman with the Hollister Fire Department for a period of six years. He then transferred to the California Division of Forestry where he had been a firefighter for the last 12 years. He had attended the Fire Fighter One Academy and had his 67-Hour Wild Land Fire Fighter Certification. He stayed current with all new fire fighting techniques. He was a certified First Responder in Medical Emergencies and Hazardous Materials. He was a member of Hollister Fire Fighters Assn.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Gina Martinez, of Tehachapi; his children Brittany, Khyla, Dominique, and Jeffrey Martinez of Tehachapi; and his parents Joe and Nancy Martinez of Hollister. He is the grandson of the late John and Rose Solano and the late Jose Martinez. He is also survived by his grandmother Tavita Martinez of Hollister; his brothers James Martinez of San Diego and Joseph Martinez of Hollister; a sister Joanne Fowles (Husband Tim) of Hollister; nephew Bryan Fowles and niece Danielle Fowles; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jeffrey’s in-laws Pat and Jerry Hubble and David and Carol Thomas also survive.
Visitation will be on Monday at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister from 10am until 8pm. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service Monday evening at 7pm at the funeral home chapel.
Family and friends will leave the mortuary on Tuesday morning at 9:30am to go to Calvary Cemetery for the graveside service beginning at l0am.
