The San Juan Bautista city council voted unanimously in a closed session May 11 to hire Stephen Julian as the permanent city manager after reviewing applications from Julian and several other candidates. Julian had been working as the interim city manager since 2008. The details of his contract are still being negotiated and the appointment will be made official at a June city council meeting.
