Hollister resident Kathy Ritter died July 2 at the age of 69. She had survived cancer for two and a half years and died in her Hollister home.

Ritter moved to Hollister in 1972 from Los Angeles. She taught with the Head Start Program, was a teacher’s aid with Sunnyslope School and a receptionist at Leatherback Industries. She also served as deacon, elder, new member coordinator, Sunday School superintendent and official greeter at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollister. She was a charter member of the Lioness Club of Hollister and was involved in running and organizing Farmers Market with her husband Allen. Ritter was also active in the Philanthropic Education Organization, Republican Women and Marriage Encounter.

She enjoyed her children, traveling, community activities, ballroom dancing and watching the sunsets from her home with her husband.

Ritter is survived by her husband of 45 years, Allen; her children Dale, Glenn, and Cheryl and Rich Wenslik, all of Hollister; and her brother Jack Heyler of Los Angeles.

Friends can pay their respects Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with a reception afterward in the church social hall. Interment services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella.

Donations are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund in memory of Ritter, c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 Seventh St., Hollister. Flowers and plants are preferred potted so the family can take them home
