Children from the YMCA afterschool programs decorated a Christmas Tree that will be donated to a needy family as part of the Lights On Celebration.

The children in the YMCA of San Benito County afterschool programs have been hard at work again making a difference in the community.

For the month of September, they collected $88.97 in piggy banks for “Pennies for the United Way.”

In October, they collected 957 items for the Homeless Shelter, including toiletries and other items needed when the shelter opened Nov. 1

For, November they sponsored a tree downtown as part of the Lights On Celebration, and sent letters and items to the troops.

For December, they are busy at work collecting food for the Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of San Benito County and making place mats for Meals on Wheels.
