San Benito beats visiting Trojans 6-1 Thursday
HOLLISTER

After falling to Notre Dame 5-2 on Tuesday, the San Benito girls tennis team managed to finish the week on a stronger note as they defeated a visiting Alisal team 6-1 on Thursday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister.

The Lady ‘Balers are now to 6-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League, 13-4 overall.

In singles, No. 1 Abbie Woods defeated Nicole Saldana 6-1, 6-3; Hayley Barker beat Genevieve Urepa 6-1, 6-1; and Bri Ahumada-Wolfsmith swept past Amanda Salazar 6-2, 6-2.

Alisal’s lone win came at the No. 4 singles spot, where Cynthia Rodriguez defeated Lady ‘Baler Kristina Slavich 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles Crystal Perreira and Marisa Ibarra returned to the win column when the defeated Myra Juarez and Jennifer Camacho 6-3, 2-6 (11-9); Erin Glasspool and Chelsea Yoakum teamed up to down Jermine Rabanal and Mitzi Ambriz 6-0, 6-1; and Rachel Smith and Lauren Ademek preserved the doubles sweep when they beat Emma Lidetta and Veridiana Santoyo 6-1, 6-0.

San Benito will visit North Salinas on Tuesday.
