The Monterey Bay Division of the League of California Cities will hold a reception and mixer at Paine’s Restaurant in Hollister for the mayors, council members and key staff from the division’s cities at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14.

The purpose of the event is to introduce new legislators and staff and to review some of the league’s positions on key issues such as fund transfers to the state.

The League of California Cities is an association of California city officials who work together to influence policy decisions that affect cities. The Monterey Bay division is comprised of the 18 cities in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties and is one of the league’s 16 regional divisions.

Hollister Vice Mayor and Councilman Victor Gomez is the Monterey division’s incumbent first vice president.

The division is holding an internal election to determine if it will change the December succession schedule to one in the summer and extend the president’s term from one to two years to improve organizational effectiveness.
