Dear Editor,
This letter is to recognize the parents, coaches, teachers and the rest of your “village” for raising fine young men. The Aggies team that represented the Pacific Southwest region during the 16-18 year old 2010 Babe Ruth World Series held last week in Newark, Ohio, was outstanding. As a mother of an athlete, teacher, and host parent, I wanted to express my sincere appreciation to all of you. It was an honor to host your “boys” and interact with their teammates, coaches and supporters who traveled to Ohio.
The players and entire entourage were respectful, grateful, and fine examples of the great youth in our great country. Often we hear too much of the negative side of our future leaders, and their parents, or communities. It’s time to start pushing the wonderful accomplishments and everyday goodness of American youth to the forefront of everyone’s minds. These Californians have become part of our Newark community for a long time to come.
Please join me in giving them acknowledgment for a job well done in competition as well as in life. I wish you and your communities much luck in the future to continue to guide American youth to greatness. Be proud of your “boys,” your towns, and our great country!
Tonda J. Sapp, Newark, Ohio
