A Loyalton man died in a solo-vehicle accident Saturday on Fairview Road south of Rosa Morada Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jake Pete Wikoff, 37, died as a result of the accident that occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The victim was in a 1998 Ford – the CHP report did not specify a type of vehicle – and was southbound on Fairview Road when he made an unsafe turning movement and lost control. The vehicle ran off the west shoulder of the road and then onto the east shoulder before overturning in a dirt field.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:52 a.m., according to the CHP.
The CHP noted that it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
