Just .10 inches of rain was recorded in Hollister by 5pm Tuesday, but the sprinkling pulled this month out of the running for the driest March on record.
In 1997, only .05 inches of rain fell on Hollister in March, according to the National Weather Service. The historical average for March rainfall in Hollister is 2.19 inches.
The high temperature on Tuesday was 58 degrees – considerably cooler than last week’s string of record and near-record warm temperatures.
Forecasters are predicting warmer and mostly sunny weather for the next two days, with highs in the 60s and low 70s, followed by partly cloudy weather with highs in the mid to upper 60s. There is a slight chance of rain on Sunday, increasing to a 40 percent chance of rain on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
