Marian Frances Jones Goodrich passed away peacefully on November 14, 2013, just three weeks prior to her 100th birthday. She was born on December 3, 1913 in Gilroy, where she attended Gilroy schools, and married Norman Goodrich. Together they raised three children, Bob, Gail, and Neil. She was the “First Lady” of Gilroy for 16 years while Norman served as mayor. She was committed to her family, her church, and her community. Active in the Wheeler Hospital Auxiliary, she was one of the “Pink Ladies”, volunteering for years at the lunch counter and in the gift shop. She was a member of the Gilroy Presbyterian Church and involved in the Harmony Circles. She especially loved the church choir. She was active in Sewing Circles, and Bridge Groups. Marian loved her garden and caring for her flowers. She enjoyed needlepoint, cooking, baking, and knew how to set a beautiful table. She was once asked in an interview which time period she enjoyed the most. She said she loved the late 1950s and 1960s. It was a time of good health and happiness, complete with social events and dancing. She was a true “lady” who will be remembered for her happy disposition.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, and sons Bob and Neil Goodrich. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Gail Carr (John Carr); grandchildren Jeff and Jason Carr (Audra), Lori Kent (Larry), Mark Goodrich (Maria Lee), Kathleen Hafley (George), and Gina Goodrich; great-grandchildren Jordan Carr, Brady and Logan Carr, Sam and Max Kent, Zachary, Makayla and Grant Goodrich, Ashley and Kaylee Hafley, and Kira and Harrison Wood; daughters-in-law Joan and Mary Ann Goodrich; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
